RH134 Ch 7: NFS Mounts and the Automounter

serverb is the WebAsha file server. Mount the shared team area permanently, and use autofs so trainee home directories and the project documents appear on demand instead of being mounted all the time.

Tasks

1. Mount serverb:/exports/shared on /mnt/shared with NFS, persistently through /etc/fstab, and mount it now.
2. Install-check and enable the automounter: the autofs service must be running and enabled at boot.
3. Configure an indirect map so that /remote/<user mounts serverb:/exports/homes/<user read-write on demand, for any user (for example /remote/student1).
4. Configure a direct map so that /projects/docs mounts serverb:/exports/projects read-only.
